Yesterday just after 12 P.M. Buchanan FD was requested to Gallagher St for reports of gas main struck by a contractor. Within minutes C-2551 was on scene and confirmed an active leak. Moments later Con Edison was on scene to shut down the gas supply.

Neighboring residents were asked to evacuate their homes due to high gas readings. All residents returned home when there houses were deemed safe.
