We have several categories of membership you can apply for:

Active/Probationary Active: Active Members are expected to attend all fires and emergencies they can and maintain the company at top efficiency. They must be at least 16 years of age and meet the minimum attendance requirements of 10 drills per year. Probationary Active members are those who aspire to become active, and shall attend a training program as prescribed by the Chief. Active Members must be a legal resident of the Village of Buchanan or the Hamlets of Montrose and Verplanck, live within 5 miles of the Village of Buchanan, or work full time in the Village of Buchanan. You must be at least 16 years old to apply for Active Membership. 

Associate: Associate Members are members of the company who are unable or do not wish to participate in firematic activities. They are expected to participate in fundraising and social events. Associate Members may not attend drills, fires, or any other firematic activity and cannot vote for Active Members and Officers. The same geographical requirements apply to Associate Membership as does active, however active members of any other volunteer fire department may apply for Associate Membership. You must be 18 years or older to apply for Associate Membership, except for "able bodied" residents of the Village of Buchanan, where the age is 21.

Exempt: Exempt members are members who qualified and received a Firefighter's Exemption Certificate from the State of New York. They are relieved of firematic duties, but enjoy the same benefits and voting privileges of Active Members.
